Hi everyone! After a lot of research, I've finalized my gear list for the AT. When I was about to attempt my thru hike last year, I prioritized price over small weight savings, but after a year of extensive saving, I was able to splurge on pricier ultralight equipment. If you're not familiar with backpacking gear, this list might look a little strange, and you might wonder why I counted all of those ounces. But as we carry our packs up and down hills for 2,000 + miles, any reduction in weight will be appreciated.
Base weight is calculated from all of the weight of the items carried, so trekking poles and worn clothes don't count towards the base weight number. My weight will change as I hike, too. I'll probably send home my warmer leggings and my emergency bivvy in the summer so our packs will get lighter as time goes on.
Here's the list! Enjoy
